Meow - IV. Seal It With a Kiss

“Now we need to seal the pact.”

“How do we do that? Is it a blood pact or something?” Val seemed confused.

Jester started untying the long red ribbon holding the mask to his face. He seemed very shy about showing his face so Val assumed maybe he had a scar or something. By now, Valkyrie was genuinely confused. Jester removed his mask to reveal a pale, beautifully handsome young face, no scars or markings whatsoever with the deepest blue eyes Val had ever seen.

“Wait a sec… What is thi-“

Jester leaned forward and held her face by the chin and Val looked straight at his eyes. She felt like she could drown in their deep blue. By now, Jester’s body was floating in the air, faint dark smoky flames under him.

“Jes-“

“Shh… You talk too much.” He closed his eyes and leaned forward, meeting his lips to Val’s. She tried to jerk away at first but immediately gave in and closed her eyes. They held the kiss for a couple seconds but it felt like a million years to both of them. When they opened their eyes, they just stared at each other.

A few moments later, Jester gave a small scream and collapsed, finally touching the floor. He clasped his hands to his right eye, which was burning like someone had poured acid on it.

Val dropped to the ground with him, at first trying to make sure he was okay, she put her hand on his shoulder as he arched his back in pain. Suddenly her right eye began to burn as well, a sharp blistering pain. She gave a silent scream and both of them fell to the ground, unconscious.
